This months' (May 2015) Therapy Today magazine features an article on Strength to Change, the innovative, evidence-based brief one to one programme for intimate partner violence and abuse.
The article considers why the programme is uniquely effective due to its therapeutically informed basis, and challenge to the view that 'power and control' is the determining factor in all such abusive relationships.
Dr Mark Farrall, Director, pointed out: "Historically there has been a prejudice in the domestic abuse field against therapeutically informed working with abusive men because it is seen as somehow collusive; this article clearly shows how misguided this attitude is if what we want if effective practice and a reduction in harm".
