'Hidden wounds' with Help for Heroes

Earlier in the year Ignition announced that the major British charity Help for Heroes was to fund a new programme co-developed by Ignition, in partnership with the Australian agency CATT. The first pilot of the re:group programme has now been confirmed to run in late Februrary 2015.

re:group  is an intensive intervention for veterans and their partners, and aims to provide support for veterans recovering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), as well as being a preventative measure for veterans experiencing a degree of stress, mental health or other related difficulty. It will form part of Help for Heroes' 'Hidden Wounds' initiative.

Dr Mark Farrall commented "This a very interesting move for Ignition, as all of our  work with violence or domestic abuse abuse has long been therapeutically-informed and incorporated an understanding of the role of traumatic experience in those behaviours, and the need to work in a trauma-informed way.

'Now we will be working with a group who may definitely be experiencing negative effects from psychological trauma in the course of their duties. I am really looking forward to developing this more specific work".
