Telford & Wrekin Council consider perpetrator programme

Telford & Wrekin Council consider perpetrator programme

Following on from a presentation in July to the Safer Shropshire local authority partnership on evidence-based effective practice in domestic abuse work, Dr Mark Farrall was invited this week to present to the Local Safeguarding Children Board for Telford and Wrekin Council.

Paul Fenn, Chair of the LSCB/Domestic Abuse Steering Group, said "We wanted  to dedicate the whole meeting to discussing moving forward with a perpetrator programme.

'Dr Farrall’s presentation was extremely interesting and gives us a solid base for further consideration, as well as illustrating that we need to consider looking at wider cultural change in how we see the issue and provide services. The idea of working in parallel with Child Protection plans was particulary thought-provoking”.

The Steering group will now consider next steps.

Dr Mark Farrall, Director of Ignition, said: “It feels to me in my various discussions that there is a sea change going on in the domestic abuse field; it’s obvious that Telford & Wrekin are prepared to look beyond a simple ‘power and control’ analysis, include this as an element, and instead consider how to develop services that actually work”.
